Hi There,
I am totally new guy in the world of Linux and of mailing solutions..
I've started to work on Fedora Core 4 and found that postfix would be
a great choice, for my solution, as MTA…
I downloaded postfix-2.2.9-1.fc4.i386.rpm and installed with the
following command
rpm -ivh postfix*.rpm
it showed the following reponse:-
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:postfix ########################################### [100%]
link /usr/share/man/man8/sendmail.8.gz incorrect for slave
mta-sendmailman (/usr/share/man/man1/sendmail.1.gz mta-sendmailman)
But it didn't show up in the list of MTA's configuration I tried this:
alternatives --config mta
But it showed only sendmail as the only MTA installed.
And when I tried to verify if it was installed by saying rpm -q
postfix It showed:
postfix-2.2.9-1.fc4
(that means it was installed)
And the directory /etc/postfix also exists
Is there any problem with the steps I performed.. Pls help me out on
this… I shall be really grateful to you
Regards
Sanjeev Arora
