[Postfix RPMs] Reported problems with my RPMs

The file is created as /etc/postfix/aliases.

Why? To avoid overwriting a possible aliases file left over from a 
sendmail installation.  It also ensures that all Postfix configuration 
files are held in /etc/postfix which IMO is "safer".

This surprises me as I perform no special steps during the compilation 
process.  I'm surprised, but I won't argue as I can't prove you didn't 
experience this difference.

I don't touch syslog.conf or change the mounted FS settings. (IMO that's 
not my job).  Obviously as has been noted using sync logging and specific 
FS options will improve the performance.
